I posted on Facebook earlier this evening about how i'd just taken an online Allergy Training exam. It was very informative and by no means easy!
I am happy to say that I passed the test. This was a voluntary test which I've taken to help potential customer feel more assured about the service I will provide. I will always do my best to supply my customers at events and at the Greyhound, with the best allergy advice I can. |
Nowadays, as a chef, I rarely get through a lunch or dinner service without meeting a gluten intollerant customer.
This could all be due to several reasons. But my thoughts are that over the past 20 years we are now seeing the consequence of a diet of fast food, processed food and ready meals. We have changed the way we eat drastically over this time. There are kids growing up not who have never eaten a freshly cooked meal or it's considered a luxury or treat. Not the norm.
I am not a scientist or nutritionist. My findings are not based on any research. I'm just a chef who has seen a massive change in the way people eat.
Intolerances are still on the increase. It will take a long time to turn this around. I'm not sure of a solution. All we can do is try and eat more real, home cooked natural food.
Now..... who wants a cookie! ;-)
